Man V Food

Nothing beats a good cookery programme, we all know this and we are all aware of the ones that we like (How to cook like Heston) to the ones we don't like (Ready, Steady, Cook grates on me-does it still exist?) I am completely in love with the programme Man V Food, it's not your typical foodie viewing and you do learn various things, especially how to eat an unimaginable amount of food in one hour.

It is an American show hosted by actor and food enthusiast Adam Richman who travels to various cities across America exploring the culture, trying out different establishments and their offerings. I am so jealous that he gets to do this. Although the challenges he endures I am not.

If you haven't already seen it, I truly recommend you do.

It has certainly been a while hasn't it? I put my postings on the back burner as I physically did not have the hours in the day to do it. Unless I wanted to substitue it for the maximum five hours of sleep I was getting, which due to my commitments I couldn't allow myself to do for fear of getting ill.

Anyway, I have a whole host of food ramblings to spill! I have moved in with a domestic goddess who keeps showing me up for the idiot I am, I still can't cook and Danny still continues to do it for me. Needless to say, I won that fight! But to my detriment as I still can't cook. That is why 2012 will be the year that I at leasst perfect ONE dish.

Tonight I will be attempting a thai noodle soup so I will let you know how I get on!

Gut Instinct

I am incredibly sorry for the lack of posts but when you are living off cereal,  I'm afraid there is just no story to tell. DON'T EAT OATIBIX, especially the ones with cranberry pieces, IT'S JUST NOT WORTH IT.

My innards have congested terribly and suffice to say, I have been suffering with awful IBS.
On top of that I had the pleasure of being cooked risotto-not by Danny, but Joel. It was amazing but oh dear God did I suffer afterward.

Maybe this is a warning that I should be making more of an effort, especially where my gut is concerned.

It is my birthday on Sunday 3rd October and as tradition goes, well my tradition goes, it means I get to celebrate and be a Princess more than I already am. It also means, that I should not have to cook for myself on such a monumental occasion. Danny has agreed, kinda, well not verbally, to cook for me. He WILL.

La Bistroteque

La Bistroteque is a contemporary and intimate restaurant for good food and casual dining. A favourite amongst the hip and trendy as well as some celebs, like Keira Knightley. Hidden away, it is in a surprising location on what at first appears to be a darkened, derelict street with disused warehouses, not the sort of street you would venture down on your own ( like I did.) It is also just out of Shoreditch and not in a particularly nice area of Bethnal Green. As you walk down the cobbled street, immediatly on the right hand side, is a building-plain and not attractve, further along there is a break in the building and down the side is a fairy light lit coutyard playing host to outdoor tables, chairs and guests. The interior is minimalist, industrial, sleek and crisp.

I went with my friends Huggy Bear and Holly, whose second cousin is head chef. Unfortunately he was on holiday so we weren't able to meet him and thank him for the bottle of champagne he had sent over, which was very kind of him. To start I had grilled razor clams and for main, I had the classic fish and chips.

This is Huggy Bear enjoying her starter and wearing an amazing feather skirt that flashed her arse, I suspect that after a few more drinks her front bum was given a viewing aswell. I can't remember what her starter was.

Now, my only qualm with the meal were the chips, I believe myself to be a little bit of a chip coinesseur (even though I can't make them I have eaten them enough to be able to distinct good from bad.) They were good, but they were disappointing, I had my expectations set soooo high! But, the fish and it's orange batter coat was lovely and soft and the pea puree was a classy change compared to my usually mushy peas from a tin jobbie.
